HorseToday I am going to write some Facts About Horses, hoping you all like Horses. Horse is one of those few animals which have been domesticated for a really long time. Horses were domesticated even before 3500 BC. And it was believed that, this domestication took place first in Central Asia. So here is a few fun facts about horses, enjoy reading them.

  • Did you know that a horse can weigh up to almost 1000 Kgs.
  • Horses’ eyes are the largest eyes of all the land mammals.
  • There exist horses which cannot be domesticated at all, these are called wild horses
  • Przewalski’s horse is the only one truly wild horse. That means, these guys ancestors were never domesticated.
  • A Baby horse is called as a foal.
  • Foals can stand up just one hour after they were born, but cannot eat grass for a long time. This is because their legs are too long for their mouth to reach the grass on the ground.
  • Horses are one of those very few animals which can sleep both standing up and lying down.
  • Did you know horses don’t have the collarbone?
  • An average horse will eat around 11 Kg food and drink up to 45 litres of water.
  • A horse sleeps for around 2.9 hours per day.
